My reflection in Year 7 ICT

My reflection in Year 7 ICT

In the whole year 7 ICT class, I don't really enjoy it, but I have learnt a lot of computer things which I can really use in every day.  I have learnt about how to make a good powerpoint and insert some data into the computer.  I hope I will be better in year 8 ICT. :)

case study 5

CASE STUDY

1)    How many different things did you count? What were they? In what ways might computers be used to control different things in the supermarket?

Four things. They were the security sensor, key card, elevator and the CCTV. The computer system will sense this stuff.

2)  Why is it useful to use computers rather than people to control things? What problems might there be if any of the computer systems fail in the supermarket?

Humans need rests but computers can work for the whole day automatically. Problems could be that there are wrong temperatures in the freezers and food has the wrong temperature too.

3)   Describe the inputs and outputs for the other devices that we have talked about so far. How do the supermarket doors and car park barriers know when to open? Identify other control systems that work automatically in this way.
The supermarket doors will know to open when it senses a person or obstacle in front of it. A car park barrier knows to open when someone pushes the button or when a car comes close to it. Car systems that sense when cars park or GPS systems work the same way.

4)  What would happen if the instructions were wrong? These instructions assume that the car is in the right place? How could they stop this happening?
They could put a loop in the instructions so that if there is not a car, the system senses it and stops.

Q1: How could Mussie and Ellie find out whether older people do more for charity than younger people?
They could go to charity site to check if which age does most charity.
Q2: Why does Mussie think that these data prove him right? Why might Ellie think that these data do not prove him right?
Cause Mussie checked the site for charity. Because it was one site, it only tells how much they did and teenager's charity is rising.
Q3: What questions should they think?
How old are you? How much money do you give to charity? How much time do you spend doing charity work?

Q4 How many questionnaires should they hand out? Who do you think should fill in their questionnaire?
They should give out 40 copies, because you don't want to give out too many copies because too much information will be difficult to handle, but too little information is insufficient. They should give the questionnaires to different age groups (elderly , adults , teenagers , children).

Q5 Which software could Mussie and Ellie use to put the answers into the computer? How can they check that the data are correct? How could they reduce the number of errors in the data? What problems might there be if the data were typed in incorrectly?

They should use Microsoft Excel © for inputting their data. They should double check the data with the information on the questionnaires. They can check the formulas with a calculator, and make sure all the same types of formula are consistent. If there is incorrectly typed data the result of the related formulas and the result of the questionnaire will be incorrect as well.

Q6 What is the best way for Ellie and Mussie to present their results?

Ellie and Mussie should use a chart. A pie chart is the best way to show the results clearly.

3.0 Case study

Q1 What might be the differences between a computer system set up for gaming compared to one set up for a buisness to use? Think about the different hardware that might be needed.

A1. A 19” flat monitor, a comfortable chair, a standard size keyboard, a good speaker, a built-in hi-fi, a fast modem as well as a clear earphone are important set up for a computer system for gaming.  These can give you enjoyment to excite and conquer the upper level of game.  However, when using the computer for business, the most advanced computer is more important, such as a high capacity computer system with touch screen connected to the updated printer with a fast modem.  These can bring the first impression of your shop to the customers and the most advanced computer can be stored a lot of billing information then download it to the database for future reference.  Moreover, it is acted as an inventory control system.

Q2 Earl has got 800 pounds to spend. How can Shaheen work out if he has got enough money? What if e hasn't got enough? What methods could Shaheen use to help her work out the prices of these different options?

A2. She can use Microsoft Excel to work out if he has enough money to use.  If he has not got enough money the Excel will tell you.  She can use Excel to find out the difference.

Q3 What does Shaheen need to do to this spread sheet model so that it is ready to use?

A3. She sets the formula to add the total amount of the requested items then less the amount for customer has to spend to find out the difference.

Q4 How can Shaheen use the spreadshet model to help her with the new customer? What changes might she need to make to her spreadsheet model?

A4. When the system shows the minus value left, any alternatives with a cheaper price can be highlighted to recommend to the customer.  This will tell the lowest model the cheapest price.

Q5 How else could Shahnee present this information to make it easier to read?

A5. She can make a chart to present the information.
